One of Veritas Wealth’s Paraplanners, Shanell Domike, who joined our team in January 2022, has set her sights on achieving the highest level of qualification an adviser can achieve: to become a certified financial planner (CFP).
She has already notched up a B.Com degree from the University of the Western Cape and a postgraduate degree in Financial Planning Law from the University of the Free State. In addition, she has passed her RE5 regulatory exams and Class of Business.
In April this year, she will sit for the tough Professional Competency Exam of the Financial Planning Institute to earn the internationally recognized CFP certification.
Shanell chose to become a financial planner largely due to witnessing how her parents managed their money while she was growing up.
“Unfortunately, they were not money savvy, and their financial decisions produced more negative consequences than rewards. To be fair, it was not their fault. To my lower-middle-class family, access to a financial planner did not make the cut on the grocery list!”
“Whilst doing my undergrad at UWC the plan was to graduate, pursue a CFA and make a lot of money. Then I came across the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa’s IFA internship – this allowed me to pursue a CFP qualification, provide good advice, give back to my community, change people’s lives and still earn a good living.
Shanell’s interests outside of work include gym weight training, hiking, catching up with friends and attending a dance class.
Her life motto is: ‘Do your part and God will do his.’
