At Veritas Wealth, we cherish the unique journeys and contributions of our employees. This month, we are thrilled to celebrate Clare, who has just marked her 10th anniversary with the company!
After stepping away from corporate life at Syfrets Private Bank, to focus on raising her children, Clare returned to work in 2015, and has since then, been an indispensable member of the Veritas team.
Clare is passionate about running and begins her days with a 5 a.m. run alongside a group of friends, several times a week. Occasionally, she participates in races, favouring shorter distances up to 21 km. Her love for running began during her time working part-time for Zola Budd, promoting Newton shoes—a role that left a lasting impression.
Outside of her professional achievements, Clare enjoys good food and fine wine. Her husband, Dave, an electrical engineer, shares this passion as an avid wine collector. Together, they have fostered a rich family life, with their two children excelling in their own pursuits. Christopher, in his third year at UCT, is studying computer science, working part-time, tutoring, and aiming to become a software engineer. Anna, also in her third year, is studying international studies at Stellenbosch, majoring in Chinese. Recently, Anna returned from a trip sponsored by the Confucius Institute, where she attended lectures at Xiamen University and explored iconic sites like the Great Wall of China.
Clare believes that keeping the brain fit is just as important as physical health. This philosophy led her to complete the UK Level 4 Financial Planning exams through CISI—a rigorous endeavor that took nearly a year of studying, followed by another year working under supervision for a UK independent financial planning firm. Now a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP™) in the UK, Clare is focused on building her client base, working with the firm to support Veritas clients and their families who have relocated—or are contemplating relocation—to the UK. For Clare, the most rewarding aspect of this journey has been maintaining cherished relationships with clients who have moved abroad.
While Clare’s professional journey spans continents, her roots remain firmly planted in South Africa. Aside from an annual visit to the UK to see clients, she’s committed to staying with the Veritas team in Cape Town
As we celebrate Clare’s 10-year milestone and her very valuable role she has played, we also look forward to sharing in the incredible future that lies ahead for her.
